Sub-Module 4a: Donation After Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the positive impact organ and tissue donation after MAiD can provide both the donor and the transplant recipient. 
  • Recognize the importance of patient-centered care when planning organ donation for the MAiD patient.
  • Discuss the requirement for collaboration and communication between the patient, their MAiD provider, the donation team and transplant team for successful organ and tissue donation after a MAiD procedure.

This curriculum has been developed by Canadian Blood Services in collaboration with Trillium Gift of Life Network, the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and many generous volunteers from the Canadian Critical Care community. 

Learners can submit certificates of completion for professional accreditation or continuing education units.
