Organ Donation and Transplantation Expert Advisory Committee (ODTEAC)

On Feb. 10, 2025, the Organ Donation and Transplantation Expert Advisory Committee (ODTEAC) held its final meeting, and it “passed the baton” to the new Pan-Canadian Governance Body for Organ Donation and Transplantation (ODT) that was established by Health Canada in April of 2024. Going forward, this new governance body will address the vital need that ODTEAC was created to fill fifteen years ago.

Canadian Blood Services, as the national coordinating agency for organ and tissue donation and transplantation (OTDT) health care services in Canada, will play a key role in the new governance body, providing secretariat services to the System Operators Advisory Committee (SOAC) and acting as a permanent co-Chair. Canadian Blood Services is committed to leveraging its strengths, experience, and expertise to support the success of the new governance body.

Canadian Blood Services would like to acknowledge and thank the many people who sat on ODTEAC over the years and the very many more people across the county who collaborated in a range of official and unofficial capacities to support the work of the committee. Canadian Bood Services also extends its deepest appreciation to Dr. Norman Kneteman who served as the Chair of the committee for fifteen years.
