This course was compiled and developed by Canadian Blood Services with the goal of providing military and emergency response pharmacists with foundational knowledge about blood and blood products in their unique health-care settings. It is intended to build awareness and understanding of transfusion-related topics relevant to these environments.

To inform the development of the course, a targeted survey was created and distributed to identify knowledge gaps among pharmacists involved in military and emergency missions. The survey was completed by 52 participants from 11 different countries between August 2024 and January 2025. This course is designed to address the gaps in knowledge identified by the survey and provide foundational knowledge to better equip pharmacists for their roles in military and emergency response health-care settings.

The course requires users to log in with a password obtained through registration, please use the links below to register. This free course is designed to be completed on desktop or mobile devices without requiring special software; it’s a self-paced course that can be completed over multiple sessions. There is no fee for this course; however, it is intended only for pharmacists who work in military and emergency response settings.
