Objectives

  1. At the end of the lecture the attendee will be able to describe the recommended indications for blood transfusion according to the latest randomized trials and published society guidelines.
  2. At the end of the lecture, the attendee will be able to identify the best methods for collection, analysis, and presentation of blood utilization data, in order to improve practice.
  3. At the end of the lecture, the attendee will be able ot name five methods of blood conservation that will result in a reduction in blood use, enhanced patient safety, and cost reduction.
