Canadian Blood Services and Trillium Gift of Life Network worked in collaboration with the Critical Care Canada Forum (CCCF) to host the Deceased Organ Donation Symposium that took place October 3 to November 4, 2017. The program reviewed current clinical practices and advances in the science of organ donation medicine, including emerging topics and evolving research. Videos of the seminars were recorded to provide those unable to attend an opportunity to meet Canadian and international critical care experts in the field of deceased organ donation.

Le syndrome respiratoire aigu post-transfusionnel (TRALI) est une réaction caractérisée par une détresse respiratoire aiguë après une transfusion. On dit que le syndrome est post-transfusionnel lorsqu’il survient dans les six heures suivant la transfusion et qu’il n’y a aucun lien temporel avec d’autres facteurs de risque. Des cas de TRALI ont été recensés pour chaque produit sanguin contenant du plasma, y compris, dans de rares cas, les IgIV et le cryoprécipité. Même s’ils contiennent très peu de plasma, ce sont les concentrés de globules rouges qui sont associés le plus souvent au TRALI.
