People living with complex health conditions, and their loved ones, must make multiple treatment choices and determine how to best involve their support systems at various points over the course of treatment. The medical system involves a language of terms, forms and processes to support communication across the system that is largely unfamiliar to patients and families and, as such, often impacts treatment choices in significant ways. This one-hour webinar will introduce health professionals working in transplant agencies to the concept of health literacy, highlight best evidence health literacy strategies relevant to transplant, and identify health literate resources for patients, caregivers, potential donors and families.
