The British Columbia Transfusion Medicine Rounds is a monthly 1-hour educational rounds with a multidisciplinary audience bringing together pathologists, clinicians, nurses, technologists, and researchers from British Columbia and throughout Canada who have an interest in Transfusion Medicine. 

For Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, The British Columbia Transfusion Medicine Rounds is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Learning objectives:

  1. Appreciate the relative safety of administering RhD positive transfusions to women of childbearing potential in bleeding emergencies
  2. Appreciate the understand the low risk of HDFN following an RhD-positive transfusion in an emergency.
